LANDSCAPE PATHWAY LIGHTING
EASY TO INSTALL AND ADDS BEAUTY TO YOUR PROPERTY
Landscape pathway lighting should be soft and
designed to discreetly light the way. If done properly, it
can create a wonderful ambiance and will really contribute
to the beauty of your nightscape.
Pathway
lighting can be an integral part of a decorative outdoor lighting design and
is surprisingly simple to install. In a commercial application,
pathway lighting has usually been line voltage, however in
recent years, low voltage lighting has become very popular,
both for commercial properties and homeowners.
Low voltage light systems are not difficult to install although
they do need to be wired to a transformer plugged into an
electrical grid. This is easily achieved, unless the wires need
to pass under the pathway. If a sidewalk, or drive way is
between where the path lights need to go and the
transformer, a conduit will have to be installed under those
features. That will normally require the services of a
professional.
Consider solar powered lights to provide beautiful pathway
lighting
The other alternative is solar powered pathway
lighting. These pathway lights are more than bright enough
to softly illuminate a path and are the easiest to install. No
wiring, just mount them on a post, or stick them in the ground,
depending on the style you need.
Today’s modern solar lights will charge even on cloudy days,
but they do need sunlight – these pathway lights won’t charge
if placed in a shady area. If you live in northern latitudes,
you probably won’t get a charge long enough to last the full
period of darkness in winter, although solar lighting will
operate in any temperature.
It is probably a good idea not to go for the cheapest models
around. You get what you pay for and products under $20.00 are
not likely to last very long. However, quality solar pathway
and landscaping lights will last for years and years without
maintenance or replacement. Solar is catching on as more and
more discover the quality available, the ease of installation
and the beautiful accent lighting they provide.
