Solar DECK LIGHTING COMES IN MANY
STYLES AND SHAPES Many
homes have deck areas that are heavily used for outdoor
activities. At night, it is obvious that some kind of
lighting needs to be provided. Deck lighting comes in many
styles and is becoming more important to consumers as they
strive to create welcoming nightscapes in their outdoor
areas.
The two
broad types of lighting solutions are solar powered or wired
low voltage. Both are extremely energy efficient, although of
course nothing beats the zero operating costs of solar powered
lights.
In
lighting the deck area, consumers should pause and think about
what they need and what they are trying to achieve. Obviously,
security is an issue. Most decks are right beside the home and
residents feel safer if a light bright enough for security
purposes is available. If this is the only requirement, the
solution maybe as simple as a standard floodlight mounted on
the side of the house. This solution would also take care of
any “task” lighting requirements. For example, bright light
required for grilling, or any other activity you may need a
well lit outdoor area for.
Many different effects can be
created with different types of lights
It may be
however, that you want to create something more with a
nighttime deck scene. Perhaps soft accent lighting is more your
style, to create a warm entertaining area or romantic spot. If
your outdoor landscape has a
lighting plan, it may be
important for you to have deck lights that blend in with the
overall theme of your landscape.
Any of
these options are easily achievable with either wired lighting
or solar lighting. And any of the myriad styles and effects can
be created by either solution. The major difference is that
wired lights need to be connected to some kind of power source
and need wires, while solar light products aren’t connected to
anything. Solar lights can’t produce light as bright as that
available with wired lights, but they do offer zero operating
cost and zero maintenance solutions that last for years. In any
event, all these products are available in local stores and
online. Consumers certainly do not lack for choice when
considering the lighting solutions for their deck
area.
